The William Humphreys Art Gallery is seeking a dynamic Education Officer to develop and present creative educational programmes at the museum.

Remuneration:
All-inclusive cost-to-company package of R 297 439,76 per annum. Membership in the Museums Pension Fund is compulsory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate, organise and present developmentally appropriate art classes for our ECD program.
- Facilitate, organise and present developmentally appropriate art classes for adults living with intellectual disabilities.
- Manage and prepare classroom settings for educational/art sessions and maintain a stimulating, well-organised learning environment.
- Design and implement education/art projects as part of the annual national celebration calendar of the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture.
- Plan, coordinate, and administer art classes and workshops for holiday programmes.
- Plan, coordinate and administer art competitions.
- Plan, coordinate, and administer art classes and workshops for school learners (after-school classes), youth, and adults.
- The Education Officer will also take responsibility for the WHAG Library. This will include:
- Maintaining an orderly and welcoming space for library visitors.
- Identify and recommend new resources for the library.
- Catalogue new resources.
- Maintain accurate records and shelving.
- Maintain the library’s electronic database.
Requirements:
- A diploma or degree in Fine Art or Visual Arts (NQF Level 6 or higher)
- A diploma in ECD (NQF Level 6 or higher) will be added advantage
- 3 years’ experience in teaching or educational facilitation (museum or gallery-based experience will be advantageous)
- Good communication skills in English, Afrikaans and Setswana
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office
- Driver’s License
- Classroom management and organisational skills.
- Ability to design and present age-appropriate, creative, and culturally sensitive lessons
- Ability to take initiative and problem-solve.
