The William Humphreys Art Gallery (WHAG) offers a 6-month-long PESP 5 work-based experience internship from 1 April 2025 to 30 September 2025 for 2 intern positions:

Intern Position 1:  Creative Writing

The key areas of development include administration, research and creating content for exhibition catalogues, and newsletters.

Requirements

  • BA degree in Creative writing (NQF Level 7)
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate in English, Afrikaans, and/ or Tswana would be an advantage.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office
  • Ability to take initiative and problem-solve
  • Ensure that you are available for the entire duration of the internship.
  • Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old.

Recruitment Details

Equity Statement: Preference will be given to suitably qualified applicants who are from previously disadvantaged groups in line with the Employment Equity Act and line with the equity and transformation targets of WHAG.

  • Monthly Stipend – R5700 per month
  • Short-listed candidates will be subjected to a selection process.
  • The WHAG reserves the right not to fill an advertised position.

Intern Position 2:  Graphic Designer

Key areas of development may include graphic design, administration, social media,  project support, and art education.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Graphic design. (NQF Level 6 or higher)
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate in English, Afrikaans, and/ or Tswana would be an advantage.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office and Adobe design software.
  • Ability to take initiative and problem-solve
  • Ensure that you are available for the entire duration of the internship.
  • Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old.
