This year’s Nelson Mandela International Day on 18 July will be celebrated under the theme: “It is in Your Hands.” Nelson Mandela, in addressing the scourge of poverty, suffering and deprivation, said: “It is in your hands to make our world a better one for all, especially the poor, vulnerable and marginalised.
The William Humphreys Art Gallery celebrated Mandela Day 2023 by visiting the Resthaven Welfare Society in Kimberley. The WHAG team provided each resident of the home with a parcel consisting of a pair of socks, a beanie, biscuits, chips and oranges.
Ms Hesta Maree (WHAG: Principal Curator of Education & Public Programmes) and Ms Zaakriah Nooroodien (WHAG: Museum attendant) presented the parcels to Ms Kgomotso Mopati (Centre Manager), Mr Peter May (Board Member)and Mr Bennet Sekgoro (Deputy Chairperson of the board).
